Bart
As far as he can remember, Bart was created as a regular, unremarkable vivibot. He despises those early years and often avoids speaking about them altogether. He doesn’t recall which human corporation created him or exactly when, nor does he know how he joined the neo-humans and found his way onto the mothership, Osiris.
Seliné, however, recounts an incident that might explain his arrival. Nearly seven decades ago, when Seliné was piloting the Osiris, she intercepted a distress signal from a neo-human colony under attack by space pirates and Lilac Crocus Corporation vanguards. Acting quickly, she intervened without exposing the mothership, helping the colonists fend off the assault. Among the wreckage was a damaged battleship belonging to Lilac Crocus, abandoned by its human crew. As was typical in such escapes, the synth population was left behind.
Many synths chose to stay in the colony to assist the neo-humans in rebuilding, but some of the vivibots insisted on joining the Osiris crew. Seliné vividly remembers these vivibots being led by a particularly interesting one: Bart. His persistence and peculiar charm ultimately convinced her to let them onboard.
Bart, however, doesn’t remember any of this. It may be due to the fact that their memories and operating systems were altered during integration with the Osiris Operating System (OOS) and the ship’s A-Eye Network.
Since then, Bart has spent most of his time learning about humans, neo-humans, history, and the Transcendence Project. For decades, he led a solitary life, as he had almost no friends. He doesn’t count other vivibots as companions; in his eyes, they’re puny, simple robots with no interest in what truly matters: becoming human.
One day, Bart met Zarya, whom he calls “the Tempest” and considers a dear friend. Together, they ventured to the Dread Heaven colony, joining a mission they weren’t authorized to participate in. The events they experienced there remain shrouded in mystery, as Bart refuses to talk about them. Despite the dark memories of that colony, the ordeal forged a strong bond between them, a friendship that Bart holds very dearly.
