Profile
Phoenix
He has Nordic genetic ancestry, possibly from former Norway. However, he was raised on Nexus, joined the military, and ventured into deep space. He's never been to Norway.
Throughout his life as an Asteria employee, he mainly dealt with people with an American accent. He also served under the Celtic Triquetra and the Red Syndicate, where he met Aurora. When he was human, he could fluently speak English, Dansk, Norse, and some crude Russian. Now he can understand and speak any language, a Neo-human perk.
Back in his human days, his primary motivation was to become a military pilot, which was not an easy task for ordinary humans. These jobs were mainly reserved for eugenic pilots. However, he never gave up and achieved his dreams. He was scouted by Asteria, one of the biggest corporations on Earth. Later, he was hired by the Celtic Triquetra, and two years later, he was sold to Lilac Crocus with his entire squadron. Lilac Crocus wanted to use him as a commercial pilot, which he refused. He then made a bold move and resigned, effectively becoming a "ronin." In military jargon, a ronin is someone who is ex-military and doesn't have a corporation contract. Such people mostly work for shady organizations and crimelords, slavers or pirates, etc. A couple of weeks later, right after he had spent all his savings and was looking for freelance contracts, he saw a job posting that would change his life forever. Hoshi Ryu, another giant corporation, was looking for a top-tier military pilot for a highly dangerous mission, the extermination of space pirates terrorizing their deep space colonies. When he checked the details, he saw Zarya Aurora Mólnija was among the crew. He applied without hesitation.
Initially rejected because his references were incomplete, he begged his boss from Lilac Crocus to give him a reference so he could re-apply. But since he had resigned from the company, his former boss couldn't give him the reference he needed. Desperate to take the job, he asked for the help of a hacker group. He did not have enough coins to hire them but had top secret military information on two giant corporations, which was worth much more than money. It was a risky trade, but Phoenix took it and got his references illegally. He applied again on the last day, successfully passed the interview, and got the job.
Before the mission began, he got a "request" from the hacker group. They kindly asked him to smuggle some friends of theirs onto the ship and help them escape to deep space colonies. To Phoenix's shock, these "friends" were Neo-humans!
Phoenix lost all memory of what happened afterward. He remembers Aurora, leaving the service of corporations along with Xander Aidan, settling into outer colonies, running from the Infestation, scavenging to survive, and his team's encounter with Daeva. All are pretty fragmented memory puzzle pieces, a side effect of the process of transcendence, as becoming a Neo-human requires an almost absolute memory wipeout.
After being killed by Daeva, Phoenix was saved by Iset the Mother and evolved into a Neo-human. Now, many call him the lastborn. He is tasked with leading a very powerful and sophisticated team for reasons unbeknownst to him. He must find a way to understand the motivations of the Goddess, deal with the aftermath of the painful events he and his old allies Aurora and Xander had to suffer, gain the respect of his team, and survive the dark and unforgiving universe of Angelic. Pretty simple, right?
